ePostal Pistol Match for July
Published by Ninth Stage July 18th, 2006 in Fun & Games, Guns. The ePostal pistol match for July is Pizza, three ways.

This is the target, available for download here (right click to download) or at Targetz.com (download target #20028.)
This Pizza can be shot three different ways. Shoot it for precision at ten yards. Shoot it quick at seven yards or shoot blazing at five yards. The scoring and course of fire will be different for each way.
Precision Pizza: Ten shots at ten yards. All shots fired standing unsupported though you can use two hands in any way you prefer, you can’t use a rest or artifiial support. No time limit.

Scoring: Shots completely inside the pepperoni are 10 points, all other hits on or touching the pizza are 8 points and a hit on or touching the paper but outside the pizza is worth 5 points. You can shoot any pepperoni as many times as you wish. Since the 10 point hit should be fully inside the pepporoni, shooting a .22 or .17 is an advantage.
Quick Pizza: Ten shots at seven yards. Each shot is fired separately starting from the “low ready” (hand or hands on the pistol, finger off trigger and pointing down and to the front at a 45 deg. angle) and is released as soon as you have a sight picture on the target. This should happen quickly, raise the pistol into alignment and bang. I’m guessing it shouldn’t take more than two seconds per shot, go at your own pace but it’s meant to happen quickly.

Scoring: Shots touching a pepperoni are worth 10 points, all other hits touching the pizza are 8 points and a hit on or touching the paper but outside the pizza is worth 5 points.
Blazing Pizza: Ten shots at five yards. Shoot them all as fast as you can - point shooting - with your defensive pistol. If it’s a five shot revolver it will be two strings, a derringer would probably be five strings an autoloader might do it in one string. You will want to use a target stand that could stand a few misses and you probably can’t do it at an indoor range. Shoot it if you can or shoot one of the other pizzas.
Scoring: Shots touching the pizza are worth 10 points, all other hits touching the paper but outside the pizza are worth 8 points.
Send your scans or photos along with your score along with what pizza you shot, what the weapon was and any comments or questions to laylines@nospam.gmail.com. All due by the end of the day Monday, July 31st.
Thanks to Mr. Completely for allowing me to host this month’s match.
UPDATE: You do not have to shoot all three. Shoot only the pizza(s) you want to shoot or shoot them all. It’s your pizza.

Very cool!! I’ll give it a try tomorrow….
…….Mr. C.
Here we go!
I emailed my ‘modest’ scoring sheets earlier. A 94 score at 10 yards; 87 at 7 yards, 94 at 5 yards in ‘Blazing’ mode.
Those pesky pepperonis are sho’ nuff tough to hit!
Perhaps another day at the range will be needed! Not a bad thing.
Thanks for hosting the match.
USCitizen, I got your and DavidM’s scores. Nice shooting! I like that idea of averaging all the scores together. I was only going to have them scored seperate but now we’ll have an overall score too. Thanks.
