Gratuitous Gun

Friday’s Gratuitous Gun Pic. I should have put this up last Friday put this up early for your viewing enjoyment.

6″ Colt Python .357 (click image for larger version).

Colt Python
This is the second center-fire pistol I bought. With it’s 1 in 14″ twist (verses S&Ws 1 in 18-1/2″ twist) it launches .38 special wadcutters with amazing precision.(Rifling twists are from memory so please correct me if I’m wrong.)

Did you stick with the original grips or get new ones? I’m a big fan of the Hogues myself.. As regards the twist, try some good quality .38 Special 125 JHPs. It’s always a hoot to watch those little bitty groups form from an accurate gun.

I had Pachmayrs on it back when I shot it a lot. The 686 in the banner image above has a big Hogue monogrip on it.

Mostly I reloaded for it. Wadcutters loaded slow and 125 JHPs at .38 +P velocity, not many full house .357 loads tho.

My favorite was the wadcutters, hearing the slap of the bullet hitting the paper and a perfectly punched hole appearing in the (ahem) black.
