Another Drug Raid Killing
Published by Ninth Stage February 13th, 2007 in The War on Drugs.- A 17-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday during a drug raid in Wharton [Texas].
Law enforcement officials said Daniel Castillo Jr. was shot by a member of the police department’s Emergency Response Team during the serving of a search warrant.
If this had been an accident, the VPC would include Castillo as a child victim - I guess you grow up rapidly when you’re shot by a cop.
The officer’s identity was not released. Police Captain Richard Coleman said only that the officer is a six-year veteran.
Police declined to comment on what instigated the shooting.
The officer’s name is being withheld because “To Protect and Serve” is not just a motto, it’s what cops do for cops.
