You’ve probably read about Zumbo the elitist anti-gun scumbag elsewhere (Tam Uncle Kevin), if not here’s the story.

Previously unknown to me hunting writer Jim Zumbo writes a post at his Outdoor Life blog that basically says “my boomstick is better than yours, to hell with them ARs, anyone who shoots one should be charged”. It’s an elitist screed calling AR platform shooters embarrassing slob hunters who “spray and pray” and saying “I’ll go so far as to call [those rifles] ‘terrorist’ rifles.” Needless to say, that with the exception of the Brady Bunch, his readership is outraged.

If the comments at Zumbo’s post are any indication, he is in danger of losing his job over this and along with it all the free gun swag and hunting trips he’s used to. His editor has taken notice of the controversy (probably from all the cancel my subscription emails he’s received) and now Zumbo has written a “Please Dear God Don’t Let Them Take Away My Sweet Sweet Job” post. It comes a bit late as Brady has taken him in as their new in-house “hunter” replacing John Kerry who’s star had fallen.

I don’t subscribe to Outdoor Life so I can’t cancel my subscription but I will not purchase anything from companies that sponsor the old has-been until they disavow him.

Here’s a partial list of Jim Zumbo’s sponsors: (Crossed out means they’ve severed their relationship from the fudd)

REMINGTON Remington severs relationship with Zumbo (via HKL in comments)
SWAROVSKI
GERBER KNIVES
MOSSY OAK
CABELA’S
SAFARI CLUB INTERNATIONAL
STONEY POINT PRODUCTS
HI MOUNTAIN SEASONINGS
ROCKY MOUNTAIN ELK FOUNDATION
BOONE AND CROCKETT

This guy flogs stuff for money. If Rock River Arms had given him free guns he’d probably have kept his mouth shut. I’m glad that he had no inhibitions keeping him from saying what he believes - at least we know where we stand and I stand against the elitists of the world like Jim Zumbo.

UPDATE: Via Claire Wolfe in comments we have a few more companies severing their sponsorship ties with Zumbo, Hi Mountain Seasonings and Mossy Oaks dropped him and Cabela’s is “having their lawyers look into it” (surely they have a good behavior clause and pissing off a large portion of Cabela’s customers is not likely “good behavior”) but Gerber is essentially saying “stab you, after your guns are gone you’ll have to come to us.”

Some further good news. Hi Mountain and Mossy Oak have also both severed their relationships with Zumbo. Cabela’s has stated their lawyers are looking into it. Gerber, OTOH, says they’re sticking with Zumbo.

Its kinda funny. I need an assault rifle to hunt? What do you think youll hit when you use the semi feature. You will hit less.
    One shot one kill.
Your fathers should have taken you hunting more.

Mr. Diesel is somehow perplexed between the term “assault rifle” which is a rifle with full-auto capability and banned in the US since the 1930’s Machine-gun law, and “assault weapon” a term invented by anti-gun forces to scarily depict semi-auto rifles (of which many hunting guns are such a type) and fire one bullet at a time as mandated under law, but have the scary cosmetic apperance of some assault-rifles.
I had an african buddy from Kenya who once told me of hunting with an Uncle of his who was a poacher and who used an old army assault-rifle firing full-auto to bring down large game - it wasn’t exactly hunting and that’s not what we’re talking about. But that won’t stop the anti-gun forces from including ANY and ALL semi-auto rifles on their lastest gun-ban project-list and soon we’ll be back to hunting with spears — if they are not outlawed…

Oh yeh, since a .270 can easily penetrater most armor consider that an ammo ban would include that “sniper” cartridge.
