That’s Why They Call Them Stories
Published by Ninth Stage July 20th, 2007 in Bias? What Bias?.Massachusetts resident and journalist Steve Baily went to a New Hampshire gun show with New Hampshire resident and former prison guard Walter Belair. Belair purchased a revolver and let Baily touch it. Touching the revolver made Baily feel all icky and stuff. Washing his hands didn’t get the icky off so Baily wrote an anti-gun screed containing lies, innuendo and omissions. The lies paint Baily as a felon. Baily repeated the lies and innuendo on the radio. The BATFE got wind of the lies and taking them for truth started an investigation. Running scared, Baily now clarifies what happened, retracting the lies, revealing the ommissions and amping the innuendo.
This is why we call a “Journalist’s” product a “story”.
