Seven Years Ago

Seven years ago, while searching for news about the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon, I discovered blogs. Because of the attacks, I was attracted to the bellicoseosphere. I never looked back. I will never forget.

Syd on why he doesn’t carry a gun.  My favorite (and pretty much my reason):
I don’t carry a gun because I’m angry. I carry a gun so that I don’t have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
There are plenty more.

Pundit Peril

The South Park Pundit is facing the flames in San Diego County.  Wish him luck.

Well Wishes

The Trainer of Because I Say So fame has suffered a stroke.  Here’s my best wishes for a rapid recovery and a speedy return to blogging.

Sheryl Crow proudly shows off her stink-fingers after demonstrating her environmentally friendly single sheet wiping method.

You’re plan is to scatter tons and tons of dust (page 3) in the upper atmospere, over the arctic, to mitigate global warming. Now every cold related weather problem has become yours. Record snowfall in the northeast? Someone will try to get you to pay for any losses. Deaths? Your [...]

Hunting Ban

Heads up Tennesseans.
My local failed city council person, failed state senator and now mayor of Gallatin, Jo Ann Graves, is pushing for a new law allowing municipalities to ban hunting. The Tennessean styles it as local control of “Urban Hunting” but what is really at stake is property rights.
Sumner County is mostly rural. [...]

Compromise

Heard on NPR about the “consensus for compromise that the recent election shows we want” (condensed and paraphrased).
Compromise is fine in negotiations over the sale of say a house; seller and buyer agree on a price somewhere between the asking and offer and everyone is happy at the end.
With natural rights compromise is not possible [...]

Liberals aren’t just against guns, they’re against self defense.  We’ve seen it in England and now more of the same in CA.
Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, announced Wednesday he is considering proposing laws that would regulate a new type of Taser stun gun being marketed directly to consumers.
Remember, it serves the (il)Liberal agenda to keep [...]

The Milton Friedman video series Free To Choose is available for online viewing again. Idea Channel.TV is the place to see the entire series and buy DVDs.
The series on Google Video disappeared so I’m glad to see another outlet appear.

Those That Do

There are two kinds of people in the world. Those that do what needs to be done and those that want others to do for them what needs to be done.
We’ve seen and heard it before; there’s the family that earns it’s own living, providing for their needs and desires through work and savings; [...]

And Die

Type in “how to teach your child to dial 911″ at Google and hit the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. You’ll be taken to this post. The first sentence of the post is “Teach your child to dial 911 and die.” I hope the lesson is learned.
From my referral logs.

Milton Friedman

Milton Friedman passed away November 16 at the age of 94 years. I was deeply saddened by the news of his death and struggled with what to say about it. I’ve decided to leave it at this quote.
There are four ways in which you can spend money. You can spend your own [...]

Hunter Rising

In the evening of the new moon I saw Orion rise above the horizon, a sure sign that winter is soon upon us but for now let us make Thanksgiving.

Crime City

Not any specific city, any big city over a quarter million in population is likely “Crime City”.
We’ve heard the news, murder and other violent crime increased at the fastest rate since ‘91.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Murders in the United States jumped 4.8 percent last year, and overall violent crime was up 2.5 percent for the year, [...]

You’re Welcome

I moved Eject Eject Eject into my “I’m Waiting” blogroll just last week.  That means Bill Whittle just put up a new essay, “Seeing the Unseen Part 1“.  Go. Read.
You’re welcome.

Prepare for Tomorrow

Prepare yourself for the zombie apocalypse scheduled for tomorrow. If you don’t remember what to do in case of zombie eschatalon, Josh will set you straight. I’d just like to add that sometimes the zombie at the door is a neighbor kid in a mask, so remember rule 4. Know your target.
UPDATE: [...]

The Probability Broach

The Probability Broach, a graphic novel serialized online.  It’s a heartbreaking view of an alternative history that might have been ours, except for our early traitors.
Read it and weep.

Near Windsor Castle it’s the same thing we mustn’t inflame everywhere, racial violence. What kind of racial violence mustn’t we inflame? Muslim (ROP) racial violence.

Kopel on Knowledge

It’s been said many times before but it bears repeating.
Schools are one of the few places in the United States where the government has guaranteed that there will be no licensed, trained adults with a concealed firearm that could be used to resist a would-be mass murderer.
Since this fact is apparently obvious to random psychopaths, [...]
